In the "Ocean" shop there were carp in the aquarium, their mouths opened, closed, opened, and on the road in the dust a little fish jumped about, it had been caught from the lake, a small one caught by a nimble boy. The flapping contents of the lake, plucked into an entirely alien, hostile world, whose last thought would have been, "Well, how do they breathe this stuff, those, what do you call them, people, how do they breathe this stuff they call air, rather than biting the oxygen out of the soft H2O, must be like drinking pure spirits by mistake, burn your throat," and his last thought will be: "I am a fish."
