I used to feel like I was an extra in some other main character's life, existing to make his surroundings more believable by tottering about. I daresay I do not feel that way anymore, though I still can't shake the feeling that things happen to me as opposed to my making them happen. I am capable only of reactions.

Haha! That's an interesting observation about yourself. One of my friends said that in my life I do not so much choose things as they choose me. I would beg to differ, but perhaps my friend is on to something.
