during the women's free skate long program, from my living room i began to hear the sound of birds outside. two, chattering away, very loudly. computer? bird alarm clock? it took me a long time to even suppose they could be real birds. which in the end, i think they were. night birds.

this morning, i found a sunglasses lens in my purse. is this some kind of joke? i couldn't figure out what kind of person would slip some piece of trash sunglass lens into my purse. later, i discovered that my grandmother's sunglasses, which i wear, which my mother says actually are hers, but i don't believe her, were winking at me from my desk.

before any trip, i always put on the religious trinketry given to me by my pa.
