three's company

They released some photos today that were taken at graduation at the Rockerfeller Center in May, and subletter Lenka discovered this sitcom-style gem:

night off

I had a really really good presentation of my thesis tonight for someone from NYU engineering and an artist from Eyebeam (!) and decided to celebrate by watching Game of Thrones and taking the night off. Except now that the episode is over, I truly have no idea what to do with my time. I have been literally rolling around on my floor.

clickety click

i worked on my thesis from 2pm to 1:30am today. guess i couldn't tough it out to the 12 hour mark. somebody's laptop was stolen at school today. what kind of crazy world is this?

Sleepover

It's past 3:30am. I'm on rothys couch because it's too late to walk home, much less with a bad of PVC pipes to carry. We coded from 10p until now and yesterday we coded into 1:30am and the night before that we coded until I can't remember and two nights before that we coded until midnight by the way the code isn't working yet. My contacts are in a teacup of water on an ikea shelf

Gate 58

I'm waiting for rothy at the boarding gate for our impending flight. I'm looking at my calendar and feeling astounded by how bad the next two weeks are going to be. I have four final projects and two performances to pull out of thin air.

dogoween

I originally wanted to be Wishbone as Robin Hood, but the Robin Hood portion of the costume looked god-awful, so I scrapped it at the last minute. This year for the school Halloween party I was a dog in a dress. I maintained Wishbone's coloring.

dog tired

I think school is going fairly well but I don't think this lifestyle is sustainable. I was in Chinatown buying acrylic at 9:30am, installing a climate change project at the Union Square Farmer's Market until 3pm, started learning about gears and cams and ate my single meal of that I had today (McDonalds), went to choir from 7-9, fucked around with my broken Vectorworks/Adobe Illustrator file until finally fixing it and laser cutting the acrylic at 11:30p. Left school at midnight, got home via subway and shuttle at 1am, sleeping now at 2a with a myriad of undone assignments due tomorrow.

yes yeah

we found back-end web class to be pretty damn boring today

adding the form to my homework took me a dedicated, silent, non-distracted 7 hours of coding, frustration, fear and panic today, so please fill it out: http://chendex.herokuapp.com/

also, i was the focal point of rothy's homework. bask in my glory: http://valerie.herokuapp.com/

wisteria and leaf

maybe it's the wine, or the fact that i've hardly slept all week, or that i've listened to harry mancini's baby elephant walk until my brains have completely melted, but i think i finally have a version of this code that i really like and actually performs consistently.

earlier tonight i printed these to present tomorrow even though i didn't like them very much, because 8pm was the latest printer slot i could book. they're supposed to be two leaves on eaves or summat like that/ the more that i look at the second sketch the more it looks like a disgusting earwig or centipede.

however, now that it is 1:45am i have these, which are much better, imo (and don't need to be fixed in photoshop to cover my inability to perform algebra shh). too bad they won't be on paper.

last night rothy and i worked on our video game project until 4am. we were taking a break sitting on her stoop when it started to rain and soon water was pouring out of the sky. a drop of rain put out her cigarette. in order to avoid trekking through bushwick in the dead of night in the gushing rain, i slept on her air bed, a floaty cloud of her boyfriend's lung air. i left the world with my contacts in and my floral jeans on and woke up a hazy three-and-a-half hours later, when i resumed the numbers game with the aforementioned sketch. i think i will get up at 6 tomorrow to make my non-existent presentation.

hopping saturday night

it's 9pm and i've just gotten to school to spend the late night hours working. that's apple juice. where are you?

update: 10:10 pm, first tiny scripting breakthrough. i toddle on
update: 1am, just got home. this day has been so long. i went to a bridal shower this morning, tried to figure out midcity manor stuff over the phone with bagel, spent ages writing a lot of shitty broken code in processing and then erased it all, and stayed late at school nudging things around in unity. meanwhile, seeing pictures online of the family dinner you missed is one of the saddest feelings ever.

want to click

1. i'm lusting for a dslr. how long until i break down? i've held out for years.

2. i just remembered that last night i had one of those horrifying dreams where all my teeth fell out. only the second time i've ever nightmared that nightmare. the internet says it stems from anxiety and i can believe that.

3. school is so rough right now. i just need to last until friday and then i will be in new orleans.

thank you presidents

thank you presidents, for this day off from class and opportunity to do homework. this morning i met with my printing code teacher in a coffee shop in williamsburg for office hours, since school is closed. he is danish and  it turns out that we lived at the same intersection at the same time when i lived in copenhagen. amazing.

i am trying my damndest to come up with an abstract sketch that uses color to illustrate my personality. so far these are the two i've come up with. i think i'm more the one on the left.

this week i am going to try to drink water. i've realized that the only beverages i ever drink are coffee and wine.
